PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jade Amoroso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amoroso comes to the cage accompanied by Doh Wah Diddy - Fun Factory. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jade Amoroso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Walker!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Amoroso!

Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Walker working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker tries to stand but Amoroso is controlling his head.
Amoroso prevents Walker from moving into mount.
Amoroso is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Walker has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Amoroso's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Amoroso is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Walker throws a head kick but Amoroso moves out of range.
Walker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Amoroso.
Amoroso with a lazy takedown attempt

Walker wants to clinch up but Amoroso keeps it at a distance.

Walker takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Amoroso keeps the fight on the outside.
Amoroso drops down looking for a counter takedown but Walker sprawls and moves away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Walker.
Walker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Amoroso is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Walker tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Amoroso is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Amoroso, who protects the arm well.
Amoroso is looking for a sweep.
Amoroso manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Walker prevents Amoroso from improving his position.
Amoroso is trying is best to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Walker is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amoroso controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Amoroso drives through with a takedown into Walker's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Walker dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Amoroso fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Walker sprawls well initially but Amoroso persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Amoroso looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Amoroso seems to be looking for submissions.
Walker is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Amoroso manages to pass to mount!

Amoroso is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Walker to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Walker shrugs it off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Amoroso looking to isolate an arm here. Walker doesn't see it coming and as Amoroso extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Amoroso!
