PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Rutherford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muhammad Mokaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutherford comes to the cage accompanied by Genesis - Deep in the Motherlode. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mokaev throws a low kick but Rutherford moves out of range easily.
Mokaev circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rutherford scores with a takedown into Mokaev's guard.

Mokaev keeping moving, preventing Rutherford from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mokaev can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rutherford stops Mokaev from standing up.
Mokaev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mokaev looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rutherford drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rutherford jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mokaev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rutherford wants to control from the top but Mokaev keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rutherford thows a body kick. Mokaev tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Mokaev scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rutherford gets back to full guard.

Mokaev is sitting in close to Rutherford's body. Rutherford has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mokaev is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mokaev is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rutherford.

Mike Rutherford really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Quark's logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
