Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osama Akharraz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shane Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Osama Akharraz!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akharraz tries to clinch but Austin is having none of it.
Akharraz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Austin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Austin throws a body shot but no joy.
It seemed like Akharraz was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Akharraz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Austin swings for the body but Akharraz moves out of range.
Akharraz on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Akharraz connects with a right hand. Austin shakes it off.

Austin darts in and clinches Akharraz up against the cage.
Akharraz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Akharraz tries to break the clinch but Austin is controlling the position.
Akharraz takes an elbow to the temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Austin lands a shoulder strike.
Austin has Akharraz pushed against the cage.
Akharraz wants to get back to striking at distance but Austin won't allow it.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Akharraz just misses with a elbow thrown towards Austin's brow.
Akharraz takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Osama Akharraz has been cut.

Akharraz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Austin.
Austin lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Austin misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Austin blocks an uppercut.
Austin scores with a shot to the side of Akharraz's head.
Austin has Akharraz pushed against the cage.
Austin gets through Akharraz's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Nice body punch from Austin - that landed with a thud.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Austin.
Akharraz's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Akharraz lands a left hand.


It looks like Shane Austin has been cut.
Akharraz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Akharraz pushes off an throws an elbow but Austin leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Austin lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Akharraz backwards.
Akharraz has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Austin seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Akharraz can turn it around.
Austin pushes Akharraz back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Austin lands an elbow inside.
Austin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Our sources have told us that Austin has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Austin lands a nice shot to the body.
Akharraz looks winded!

Austin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
A right hook to the body lands for Austin.
Nice elbow from Austin.
Austin lands a nice elbow.
Akharraz prevents a body shot from Austin.
Akharraz is trying to push Austin away but Austin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Nice body punch from Austin - that landed with a thud.
Austin lands a damaging elbow.
Austin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Akharraz backwards.


Akharraz is rocked!
Austin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Akharraz is still on wobbly legs! Can Austin finish him?
Clinched against the cage, Austin lands a big elbow that drops Akharraz! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Akharraz is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Austin!
A very excited looking Shane Austin made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
