Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Masa Wasa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dixie Small!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Wasa.
Small takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Small swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Wasa fires out a quick counter leg kick but Small just manages to avoid it.
Wasa ducks right into an uppercut from Small.
Small with a nice cross.
Wasa goes for a double leg but Small avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Small continues to drive forward.
Wasa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Small moves into the clinch.
Wasa lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wasa doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Wasa breaks the clinch.
Wasa has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Martial Arts Dojo in the buildup to the fight.
Wasa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wasa. Small does a little dance to reset his feet.
Small displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wasa throws out the jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Small counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wasa!
Small lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Small connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wasa some visible discomfort.

Small in side control, throwing shots but Wasa defends.
Wasa regains half guard.

Small is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Small wants to control from the top but Wasa keeps moving.

Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Wasa is retaining full guard.
Small postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Small stands up over Wasa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wasa is on top in guard.

Small had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wasa defends it easily.
Wasa throws an elbow that misses. Small uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wasa's guard. Nice move by Small!

Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Wasa is retaining full guard.
Wasa wants to sweep but no luck.

Wasa working for a triangle but Small defends it easily.
Wasa has momentary wrist control but Small slips an elbow through the middle.
Small working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Wasa's head.

Wasa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Small is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wasa.

Wasa tries to buck Small off but Small is having none of it.
Small creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Small lands a few punches from side control.
Small lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wasa down.

Oh Wasa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Small in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Wasa looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Small turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Dixie Small is the new featherweight champion!
After winning the bout, Dixie Small thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
