The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daugherty tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Soares defends well and Daugherty ends up having to push Soares into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Soares.
Soares takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Daugherty thows a leg kick but Soares checks it
and Daugherty takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Soares sizes up Daugherty with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Soares fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Daugherty manages to avoid it.
Daugherty tries to close the distance and clinch but Soares swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Soares is looking for the big counter here.
Daugherty really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Soares misses with an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daugherty tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soares sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Daugherty somewhat.
Soares uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Daugherty has time to react.

Soares lands with a straight right. Daugherty didn't see that one coming.

It looks like Rory Daugherty has been cut.
Daugherty tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Soares paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Daugherty looks to score with a jab to the body but Soares is just out of range.
Soares lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Soares throws an overhand right that lands on Daugherty's shoulder, as Daugherty tries to avoid the shot.
Soares misses with a straight left.
Soares connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Daugherty's hands.
Nice cross by Soares.
A combination from Soares does no damage.
Soares comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Daugherty has managed to clinch.
Soares is trying to break free.

Daugherty's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daugherty is looking to clinch.
Soares throws a lazy right hand but Daugherty sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Daugherty slips a jab from Soares.
Daugherty appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Soares circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Daugherty tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Soares manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Soares lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Daugherty can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Soares and Daugherty drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Soares.
