PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sampson Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maven Troers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sampson Shain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maven Troers!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Troers pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Shain back to the cage. Troers follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Sampson Shain has been cut.
Shain connects with the punch.
Troers feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shains jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Shain misses with an uppercut.
Troers throws out a counter right but Shain avoids it with no problem.
Troers misses with a hook
and Shain counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shain moves into range and connects with a jab.
Troers takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A lazy left from Shain finds it's target.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shain throws a body punch but Troers moves out of range.
Shain throws a head kick that misses.
Troers swings away with a body shot that misses
and Shain counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Shain looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Troers is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Troers misses with a hook to the body
and Shain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Shain lands with a good body shot.
Troers doesn't manage to clinch there - Shain circles away.
Shain was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Troers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shain's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Troers connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shain scrambles back to his feet.
Troers has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Troers there as he acknowledges the shot.
Troers takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Shain connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Shain darts in and clinches Troers up against the cage.
Shain throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Troerss head.

Troers drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shain pulls his leg out and moves away.
Troers throws a lazy uppercut
and Shain counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shain lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shain misses with a hook. Troers ducked under it nicely.
Shain keeps the fight on the outside.
Troers looks to land a left hand but Shain moved out of range nicely.
Troers moves in looking to clinch but Shain pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Troers tries to keep at a distance but Shain has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shain lands a right hand.
Shain stops a takedown attempt from Troers.
Shain scores with a shoulder strike.
Shain has Troers pressed against the cage, preventing Troers from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Shain.
Troers has Shain pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Shain manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Sampson Shain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maven Troers.
Shain lands a left hand.
Shain lands with a short shot to the head.
Shain lands a nice uppercut.
Troers goes for a takedown attempt but Shain pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Troers misses with an uppercut
and Shain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Shain stuns Troers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shain uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Troers has time to react.

Shain connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Troers is still on wobbly legs! Can Shain finish him?

It looks like Maven Troers has been cut.
Shain finds Troers's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Troers flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Shain lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Troers will be OK.
