PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Damon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter White Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damon throws a combination that misses
and White Jr counters with a three punch combo that has Damon backing up. Damon nods at White Jr to acknowledge the strikes.

Damon scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

White Jr bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Damon tries to clinch up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White Jr lands with a good body shot.
Damon blocks a head kick by White Jr.

Damon forces White Jr back against the cage and clinches.
Damon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
White Jr is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Damon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Damon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Damon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
White Jr is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Damon with a body shot.

White Jr takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Damon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. White Jr manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Damon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

White Jr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Damon's guard.

My spies in Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA inform me that White Jr has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Damon wants to sweep here but White Jr controlling him for the moment.

White Jr is looking for a kimura but Damon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for White Jr to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Damon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White Jr on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

White Jr wants to pass to mount but Damon is defending the position.

White Jr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Damon defends it well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
White Jr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Damon is trying to stand.

White Jr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Damon is trying to stand up here but White Jr is controlling him well.
White Jr is controlling the pace.
Damon is trying to maintain the position but White Jr is very close to passing his half guard.

White Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Walter White Jr dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Damon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with White Jr, pushing him back against the cage.

White Jr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Damon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Damon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Damon rushes White Jr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on White Jr's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

so White Jr counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
White Jr controls from within his opponent's guard.

White Jr drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. White Jr seems to have locked his on tight now - Damon screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for White Jr, as he picks up the win!
