The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Theo Zakalis has been cut.

Zakalis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Vovchanchyn, right into the meat.

Vovchanchyn steps into range and cracks Zakalis with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Zakalis flops backwards and Vovchanchyn dives into his guard looking to finish!

Vovchanchyn postures up in Zakalis's guard and throws a big left but Zakalis blocks it.
Vovchanchyn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Vovchanchyn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zakalis parries the strikes from Vovchanchyn easily there. Vovchanchyn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Zakalis to escape.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Vovchanchyn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
