The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor gets a clinch.
Taylor is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Monteiro pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Taylor tries to clinch up but Monteiro circles away and keeps his distance.
Taylor uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Monteiro.
Taylor lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Taylor moves into the clinch.

Monteiro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Taylor looks for a takedown but Monteiro sprawls well.
Taylor shoots in looking for a takedown but Monteiro manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Taylor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Monteiro fires out a quick counter leg kick but Taylor just manages to avoid it.
Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Monteiro moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monteiro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Taylor scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Monteiro doesn't seem bothered though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Monteiro rushes Taylor with punches - Taylor moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Taylor goes down! Monteiro follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
