Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Renato Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Porto!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Porto counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Porto lands a nice uppercut.
Gracie tries to land knees in the clinch but Porto avoids the damage to the body.
Porto is pushing Gracie up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Porto forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Gracie's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Porto digs a right hand into Gracie's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gracie's gas tank.
Gracie has been working on his balance at Aspire Acαdemy CT, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Porto.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Porto is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Porto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Porto slows down the pace here.
Porto tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gracie's elbow.

Gracie pulls guard successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie is really struggling to control Porto but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Gracie pulls Porto in close to his closed guard and prevents Porto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Porto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Porto from controlling successfully.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gracie holds on and takes a little breather.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Porto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... Porto has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Porto reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Porto taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Renato Gracie!
