Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rolland Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ikkyu Sojun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rolland Barr has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rolland Barr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ikkyu Sojun!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sojun shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Barr manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sojun wants to pass the guard but Barr is keeping the position.
Sojun slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Sojun decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barr, up you get!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sojun looks to land a body kick but Barr moved away.

Sojun clinches up with Barr and pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Barr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sojun lands with a shot to the body.
Sojun swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Barr throws a right and a left that both miss.

Sojun gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Barr is trying to pull guard but Sojun turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Sojun content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Sojun is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Barr can't fight it off and eventually Sojun manages to take the fight to the floor. Barr looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Barr has control of Sojun's left arm, preventing Sojun from doing any damage.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Sojun has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Sojun has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Barr is proving hard to escape from.
Sojun is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Barr really is a fat lump.
Sojun is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Sojun closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barr did well to prevent Sojun getting side control.

Sojun is working for a kimura but Barr is defending it quite comfortably.
Sojun throwing shots but Barr is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barr is defending against the submission attempts here by Sojun.
Sojun is just content to waste time from the top position. Barr takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sojun must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barr is pulling down on Sojun's head to control his posture.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sojun wants to control from the top but Barr keeps moving.
Sojun's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sojun is looking to work some ground and pound but Barr has wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rolland Barr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sojun closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Barr quickly recovers to half guard.

Sojun is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ikkyu Sojun has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sojun postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Barr tries to sprawl but Sojun drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sojun has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sojun with the ground and pound but Barr uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Barr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ikkyu Sojun showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Barr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sojun to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sojun is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Barr is controlling him.

Barr not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sojun tries to clinch but Barr is having none of it.

Ikkyu Sojun comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sojun has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
