PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Rostov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Hart will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Rostov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Hart!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rostov wants to take a breather but Hart is having none of it.
Rostov is looking to advance position but Hart won't allow it.

Hart has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rostov is working away from the top position though.

Rostov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hart doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rostov.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Rostov is trying to trip Hart. He has hold of a leg but Hart is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rostov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rostov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rostov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rostov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hart tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

I really don't envy Hart right now.

Rostov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rostov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hart is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Hart is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rostov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
