Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hung Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Sherman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rashad Sherman will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hung Barron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rashad Sherman!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherman tries to clinch up but Barron circles away and keeps his distance.
Sherman looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Sherman doesn't manage to clinch there - Barron circles away.

Sherman rushes Barron and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barron could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Barron is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sherman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barron gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Barron working hard to break the clinch.
Barron has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sherman after a bit of a struggle.
Barron goes for a takedown attempt but Sherman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hung Barron. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sherman misses with an attempted mid kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barron rushes Sherman and presses him up against the cage.
Barron is trying to break the clinch but Sherman has him pressed against the cage.
Barron is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sherman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Barron keeps control of Sherman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Barron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Barron looks to score with a jab to the body but Sherman is just out of range.
Barron lands with a good body shot.

Barron moves into range and clinches up with Sherman.

Barron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sherman misses with a few strikes there.
Barron bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Barron moves into the clinch successfully.

Barron escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sherman is looking to clinch but Barron is avoiding it.
Sherman moves out of range of the strikes.
Barron looks to score with a jab to the body but Sherman is just out of range.
Barron throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Barron lands a nice hook to Sherman's body. Sherman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Barron takes the fight into the clinch.
Barron is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sherman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Barron wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Barron breaks from the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barron drives through and clinches with Sherman against the cage.

Sherman manages to break the clinch.

Barron moves into the clinch.
Barron is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Sherman is defending well for now.
Sherman tries to pull guard but Barron forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Sherman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Barron pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Barron breaks the clinch.

Sherman is looking to clinch.
Barron throws a series of punches but Sherman avoids them all with ease.
Sherman doesn't manage to clinch there - Barron circles away.

Barron pushes Sherman up against the cage in a clinch.

Barron tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sherman avoids it.

Barron manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Barron breaks from the clinch.
Barron closes the distance and clinches up with Sherman, looking for a takedown. Barron pushes Sherman against the cage but Sherman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Sherman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Barron counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Barron is looking to wear down Sherman with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Sherman stuffs the takedown.

Barron moves into the clinch.
Barron is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sherman is defending well.
Barron can't get the takedown.

Sherman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sherman swinging wildly here.
Sherman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Barron rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sherman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sherman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Barron ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sherman looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Hung Barron is winning the standup battle so far.
Sherman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sherman fails to land with a series of punches.
Barron wants to clinch up but Sherman keeps it at a distance.
Barron jabs at Sherman's body.
Barron ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sherman moves away.

Barron rushes Sherman and presses him up against the cage.
Sherman is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barron is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sherman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Barron works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Barron throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Barron connects with a couple of short punches.

Barron scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barron makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Barron decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sherman, up you get!
Sherman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barron.

Sherman gets caught napping as Barron dives in and scores a takedown. Sherman manages to retain guard.
Sherman wants to get back to his feet but Barron passes into half guard.

Barron is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sherman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Barron.

Sherman wants to get back to full guard.
Barron is taking a breather. Sherman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Sherman tries to roll over but Barron keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Barron stands up out of the half guard.
Sherman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As Sherman looks to move away, Barron throws a big counter combo but Sherman just gets out of the way.

Barron moves into the clinch.

Barron pulls guard effortlessly.
Sherman being controlled here momentarily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sherman postures up in Barron's guard and throws a big left but Barron blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hung Barron dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Barron takes a swing at Sherman's ribcage but misses.
Barron blocks a head kick by Sherman.
Sherman swings for the body but Barron moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Barron misses its target.

Barron clinches with his opponent.
Barron is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Barron can't get the takedown.
Barron is trying to drag Sherman to the mat but Sherman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hung Barron. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barron tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Barron is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sherman can do to turn this around?

Sherman is pressed up against the cage. Barron has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sherman down to the mat. Sherman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sherman moves into range and clinches up with Barron.
Barron is working for takedown but Sherman is calmly controlling the position for now.
Barron is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Sherman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sherman wants to clinch up but Barron keeps it at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Barron. Sherman does a little dance to reset his feet.

Barron gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Barron lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Barron controlling the action here.

Sherman manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A jab from Barron misses.
Barron wants to clinch.
Sherman throws out a counter right but Barron avoids it with no problem.
Sherman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barron.
Barron was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Barron fails in his attempt to clinch.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sherman is defended easily by Barron.
Barron fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sherman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barron.
Barron misses with a body shot.

Barron shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sherman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sherman is looking to get back to his feet here but Barron is keeping cool and he's managed to take Sherman's back.
Barron controlling well, preventing Sherman from escaping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barron has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Sherman's body.
Barron has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rashad Sherman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hung Barron is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hung Barron.
Well Barron has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
