Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Artemon Germano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Genkis Patel!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Germano rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Patel counters with a straight right hand.
Germano tries to clinch up but Patel circles away and keeps his distance.
Patel is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Germano darts in and clinches Patel up against the cage.
Germano swings wildly with an uppercut but Patel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Germano fails to pull guard.
Patel blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Patel stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Patel lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Germano.
A short left from Patel.
Germano tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Patel just stands there and leans against the cage.
Germano takes a shot to the head.
Patel lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Germano goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Germano blocks a body shot from Patel.
Germano jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Patel walks away with a smile on his face. Germano gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Artemon Germano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Germano throws the left hand but Patel avoids the punch easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Patel. That snapped Germano's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Patel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Germano in his tracks.
Patel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Germano sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Germano tries to clinch
and Patel counters with a right hand to the body.
Germano tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Patel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Germano closes the distance but Patel moves to the side
letting Patel counter with a right hand.
A swing and a miss from Germano.
A nice side step and Patel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Artemon Germano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Germano tries to clinch up but Patel circles away and keeps his distance.
Patel steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Germano.
Patel slips under a jab from Germano.
Patel wants to counter the offense by Germano and move into the clinch position.
Germano tries to clinch but Patel is having none of it.
Germano moves into the clinch successfully.
Germano pulls guard effortlessly.
Germano has his foot on Patel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Patel works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Patel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Patel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Germano had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Patel defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Germano can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Patel controls the pace.
Germano looking for a triangle here. Patel is fighting it but it looks tight! Germano pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Patel is tapping out - this one is all over!
