Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Panayiotis Stavros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lukas Martin!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stavros misses the shot to the body.
Stavros throws a wild body kick that Martin sees coming a mile off.
Stavros throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Stavros throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And Martin tries to counter it with a takedown but Stavros pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Stavros throws a leg kick but Martin moved away.
Martin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

and Martin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Martin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stavros is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stavros looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Martin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Stavros is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Martin is just riding it out for now. Stavros eventually gives up the hold.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martin can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Stavros definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stavros. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stavros throws a hook to the side of Martin's head but Martin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Stavros thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Martin if he has to take too many more of those.

Stavros has hold of Martin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Martin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Martin enables Stavros to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Martin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Martin looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Stavros! Submission of the night perhaps?
