Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meechum has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Meechum there as he acknowledges the shot.
It looks like Danny Meechum has been cut.

Laaksonen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Meechum escapes and throws Laaksonen's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Laaksonen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Meechum in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laaksonen throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Laaksonen's coaches at Hope MMA have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Laaksonen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Meechum wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Laaksonen sneaks out the side door and pushes Meechum away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Meechum changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Laaksonen tries to avoid it but Meechum manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Laaksonen to the ground. Laaksonen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Meechum is trying hard to land a takedown here. Laaksonen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Oooooh!!! Laaksonen has knocked Meechum down with a huge combo! Laaksonen steps away and waves a wobbly Meechum back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Meechum takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Meechum is still on wobbly legs! Can Laaksonen finish him?
Meechum switches off momentarily and Laaksonen cracks him with a monster right hand! Meechum topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Laaksonen dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Laaksonen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jerry Laaksonen!
Our winner, Jerry Laaksonen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
