Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Wan Soo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson's entrance music is Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix. A fine choice. Wan Soo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rise of the Northstar - Welcame. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Wan Soo!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Chris Dean and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wan Soo avoids the body shot from Johnson.
Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Johnson scores with a leg kick.
Johnson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wan Soo.
Wan Soo moves out of range as Johnson strikes.
A nice leg kick lands there from Johnson.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Wan Soo.

Wan Soo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Curtis Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson lands a nice shot that snaps Wan Soo's head back.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Wan Soo saw that one coming.
Wan Soo replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Johnson blocks it well.

Johnson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wan Soo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johnson connects with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson misses with an uppercut
and Wan Soo counters with a slapping leg kick.

Wan Soo drives through and clinches with Johnson against the cage.

A short body shot lands from Wan Soo as the two fighters clinch.
Johnson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Wan Soo lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Johnson backwards.
Johnson misses with an elbow over the top.

Wan Soo gets through Johnson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Wan Soo.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wan Soo, right into the meat.
Wan Soo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Johnson.
Jon Wan Soo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Wan Soo looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range.
Wan Soo tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.
Wan Soo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Johnson is out of range.
Wan Soo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Wan Soo fails to land with a series of punches.
Johnson throws a lazy uppercut
letting Wan Soo counter with a right hand.
A punch combination from Wan Soo misses.

Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wan Soo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnson lands a leg kick that knocks Wan Soo off balance momentarily.
Wan Soo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Johnson tries to counter with a takedown but Wan Soo is quick to defend against it.

Wan Soo darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage.
Wan Soo tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wan Soo scores with a shoulder strike.
Wan Soo blocks the elbow strike.
Johnson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Wan Soo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Johnson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Wan Soo has Johnson pressed against the cage, preventing Johnson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Wan Soo lands with a left to the head.
Johnson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Wan Soo lands a body shot in the clinch.

Johnson has picked Wan Soo up - he's going for a ride! Johnson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wan Soo wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.

Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Johnson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wan Soo on the side of the head.
