Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Murha Pate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Newton!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pate lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Pate works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Newton dives in for a single leg takedown but Pate sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
And Pate counters with a quick kick to the body but Newton blocks it.
Pate is looking to land body kicks.

Newton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Newton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Newton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pate has escaped the position, nice work there.
Newton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pate keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Newton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pate prevents Newton from improving position.
Pate gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pate is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Newton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Newton's back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

You can see the frustration on Newton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've been told by Pate's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Pate stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pate wants it to stay on the feet.

Pate was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Pate feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Newtons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Pate connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Newton momentarily.

Pate lands a big right hand that sends Newton crashing to the mat! Pate stays standing though and waves Newton back to his feet!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Newton walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Pate! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
