PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary The Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ian Peterson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gary The Reaper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ian Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson wants to clinch.
The Reaper misses with a looping right.
Peterson moves in looking to clinch but The Reaper pushes him off.
Peterson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

The Reaper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Peterson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Peterson is trying to control The Reaper's posture but The Reaper avoids it.
The Reaper throws a strike aimed at the side of Peterson's head but Peterson avoids it well.
Peterson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but The Reaper wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peterson can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peterson prevents The Reaper from moving into mount.
The Reaper happy to just control the position for now.
The Reaper throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The Reaper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The Reaper fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The Reaper wants to control but Peterson is keeping him busy.
The Reaper throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Peterson is letting The Reaper control him for a moment.
The Reaper in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Peterson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of The Reaper.
Peterson tries to buck The Reaper off but The Reaper is having none of it.
The Reaper wants to control but Peterson is keeping him busy.

The Reaper postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The Reaper misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The Reaper has knee on belly and moves into mount.

The Reaper is landing with some decent strikes but Peterson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
BOOM! The Reaper connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The Reaper lands a couple of good shots and Peterson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The Reaper lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Peterson.
The referee is taking a good look at Peterson as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from The Reaper!

The Reaper has got one arm under Peterson's chin. This could be trouble... Peterson trying to control the other hand but The Reaper gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Peterson has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gary The Reaper!
During a confident post fight interview, Gary The Reaper thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
