PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Macadam Baird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Macadam Baird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingston looks to throw the jab but Baird is out of range.

Kingston gets caught napping as Baird dives in and scores a takedown. Kingston manages to retain guard.
Kingston is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Baird trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kingston wants to sweep here but Baird controlling him for the moment.
Kingston has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Baird has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kingston takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baird in side control lands a decent elbow.
Baird landing strikes.
Kingston being controlled for a moment.
Baird throws an elbow but Kingston slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kingston seems a little lost for a moment, as Baird dominates the positioning.

Baird thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Baird is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kingston has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kingston regains half guard.
Baird will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Baird controlling the action here.
Kingston is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Baird jumps into side control!
Kingston really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baird. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kingston keeps working.
Check out the look on Baird's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Kingston is looking to regain half guard here but Baird keeps moving and retains side control.
Kingston is trying to control Baird's posture but Baird avoids it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kingston is letting Baird control him for a moment.
Baird has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Kingston!
Kingston really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Baird can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kingston is looking to escape.

Baird raining down shots from the mount!
Baird postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kingston looks a forlorn figure.

Baird moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kingston has worked his arm free - good work by Kingston!
Baird is looking to take a break and control but Kingston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baird works to advance to full mount. Kingston defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Baird has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kingston taking shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Baird manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kingston to take his back!

Baird is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kingston has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Baird has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kingston taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Baird doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Macadam Baird!
In his post fight interview, Macadam Baird started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
