Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Akira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dap Rordondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Curtis Akira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dap Rordondo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rordondo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Akira counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Akira.
Rordondo tries to score a body lock takedown but Akira shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Akira stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Akira manages to break the clinch.
Rordondo connects with a body shot that sends Akira's belly button to the back.
Akira slaps away a takedown attempt from Rordondo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Curtis Akira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dap Rordondo.
Rordondo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Akira but Akira pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Akira swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Rordondo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rordondo goes for a double leg but Akira avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Akira continues to drive forward.

Akira pulls guard successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rordondo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rordondo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Rordondo decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Rordondo blocks a head kick by Akira.
Akira could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rordondo closes the distance and clinches up with Akira, looking for a takedown. Rordondo pushes Akira against the cage but Akira circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rordondo wants to clinch.

Akira swats away the attempt to clinch by Rordondo.

Akira closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Akira is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rordondo pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rordondo is trying to break the clinch but Akira is controlling him.
Rordondo is trying to break free.
Rordondo trying to control the position but instead, Akira has worked for underhooks and has pushed Rordondo into the cage.

Rordondo slips a jab and a cross from Akira.

Akira shoots in but Rordondo avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Akira fires out a quick counter leg kick but Rordondo just manages to avoid it.

Akira is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rordondo.
Rordondo throws a half hearted mid kick.
Akira dives in and grabs Rordondo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rordondo pushes down on Akira's head and hops out.

Akira keeps the fight on the outside.
Akira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rordondo throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Akira shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Akira is breathing heavily.
Rordondo doesn't manage to clinch there - Akira circles away.
Rordondo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
As Rordondo looks to move away, Akira throws a big counter combo but Rordondo just gets out of the way.
Akira closes the distance and clinches up with Rordondo, looking for a takedown. Akira pushes Rordondo against the cage but Rordondo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rordondo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rordondo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Akira paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Akira rushes Rordondo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rordondo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Akira has him pressed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Rordondo's face as he tries to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rordondo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Rordondo cracks Akira with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Rordondo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Akira has Rordondo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rordondo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akira keeps control of Rordondo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Akira has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rordondo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Akira tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Akira jumps guard and drags Rordondo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rordondo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rordondo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Akira is striking off his back. Rordondo thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Rordondo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akira keeps working.
Rordondo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Akira haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Akira on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Akira tries to get out of the position.

Akira manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Rordondo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Rordondo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Akira just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rordondo wants to get back to striking at distance but Akira won't allow it.

Rordondo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Akira circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Curtis Akira will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Akira is pushing Rordondo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dap Rordondo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Curtis Akira is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Curtis Akira.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Akira, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
