Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Drew Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suave Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Drew Sampson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Suave Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sampson forces Pierre back against the cage and clinches.

Sampson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sampson has managed to clinch.
Sampson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pierre avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pierre has Sampson pressed against the cage, preventing Sampson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Pierre is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sampson can't fight it off and eventually Pierre manages to take the fight to the floor. Sampson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sampson has momentary wrist control but Pierre slips an elbow through the middle.
Pierre lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sampson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pierre on the ground.
Pierre stands up over Sampson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pierre is looking to work some ground and pound but Sampson has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sampson really is a fat lump.
Pierre is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Pierre postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Pierre postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sampson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pierre, into his guard.

Pierre wants to sweep here but Sampson controlling him for the moment.

Pierre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sampson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sampson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pierre pulls Sampson in close to his closed guard and prevents Sampson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Pierre wants to sweep but no luck.

Sampson trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sampson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pierre is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Pierre is looking for a kimura but Sampson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierre to get the leverage.

Pierre drops an elbow to the side of Sampson's head.
Pierre takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pierre is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sampson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pierre is thwarting Sampson's attempts to control the position.

Pierre is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Pierre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Pierre working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Sampson wants to get back to full guard.
Sampson is breathing heavily.
Sampson is looking to control Pierre's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sampson avoid being mounted?
Pierre stalling.

Sampson is looking for a sweep. Pierre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sampson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pierre scores with a couple of nice shots.
Pierre performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pierre lands a nice short elbow.
Pierre drops an elbow to the side of Sampson's head.
Pierre scores with a big shot! Sampson's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Sampson! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Suave Pierre!
