Newton closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Leonard Martinez has been cut.
Newton looks to throw the jab but Martinez is out of range.
Martinez loads up on a big right hand but Newton slips the punch.
Martinez works Newton's body with a nice hook.
Martinez misses with a straight left.
Newton throws a big counter combination but Martinez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Martinez tries for a takedown but Newton circles away easily
enabling Newton to counter with a crisp jab.
Martinez misses with a kick to the body.
Martinez tries a head kick but it misses.
Newton throws out a loose jab but Martinez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Martinez scores with a nice right hand.

Martinez rushes Newton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Martinez swings wildly with an uppercut but Newton uses good head movement to avoid it.
Newton wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Martinez lands a glancing blow to the side of Newton's head.

Newton breaks from the clinch.
Martinez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Newton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Newton slips a jab from Martinez.
Newton swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Newton thuds a left hand into Martinez's body.
Martinez looks for the body kick but Newton saw that one coming.
A slow jab from Newton misses its intended target.
Newton looks to score with a jab to the body but Martinez is just out of range.

Newton drops Martinez with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Martinez looks back up at him and smiles so Newton waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

That has opened up Leonard Martinez's cut even more.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martinez shoots in and bounces Newton off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Newton pushes Martinez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Martinez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Newton was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Cam Newton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonard Martinez.
Newton throws a good cross that connects.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Newton knocks Martinez out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
