PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Musta Laine (ranked 50 p4p, 8 weight class) and Bobby Shamrock (ranked 99 p4p, 16 weight class). Laine kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Disturbed - Sound of Silence. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine's corner calls for a 1-2. Laine obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Laine throws a quick inside leg kick.
Laine throws a lazy body kick
and Shamrock counters with a nice uppercut.
Laine goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Laine lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shamrock has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shamrock and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Laine throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shamrock sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It seemed like Shamrock was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Laine does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Shamrock tries to counter with a clinch but Laine shakes him off and moves away.
Laine moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Laine throws a leg kick but Shamrock sees it coming and checks it nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Shamrock! But no joy.

Laine dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Shamrock. That did some damage!

Laine looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Laine is pressing down on Shamrock's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shamrock is holding on for now.

Shamrock loads up on a big right hand but Laine slips the punch.
Shamrock displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Laine throws out the jab.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shamrock might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Laine throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shamrock's waist but Shamrock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Laine off to one side.

Oh Laine is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shamrock finds Laine's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Laine flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Shamrock lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Laine will be OK.
