Melrose misses with a hook

and Mafaking decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Melrose's guard.
Melrose is looking to stand up but Mafaking isn't so interested in that idea.
Melrose has control of Mafaking's left arm, preventing Mafaking from doing any damage.
Mafaking passes into half guard.

Mafaking is working for a submission of some sort.
Mafaking trying to control the action but Melrose is working from the bottom.
Melrose has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mafaking is working away from the top position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mafaking is looking to take a break and control but Melrose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Melrose pushes Mafaking off looking to stand but Mafaking dives back in and keeps control.

Mafaking wants to work for an arm triangle but Melrose is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Melrose wants to get back to his feet.
Melrose knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mafaking on the ground.
Melrose is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Melrose looks like he's trying to stand up.

Mafaking maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Melrose could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mafaking has cracked it and Melrose is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mafaking!
