Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hassan Fitzpatrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Smirnoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hassan Fitzpatrick is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hassan Fitzpatrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vladimir Smirnoff!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzpatrick throws a sloppy head kick and Smirnoff moves out of range easily.
Smirnoff gets a double leg takedown into Fitzpatrick's guard.
Fitzpatrick working for a triangle but Smirnoff defends it easily.
Smirnoff looking to pass the guard.
Smirnoff trying to control but Fitzpatrick is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fitzpatrick has his foot on Smirnoff's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smirnoff works his way back into a safe position though.
Fitzpatrick throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Smirnoff is looking to stand up but Fitzpatrick won't let him.
Smirnoff stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fitzpatrick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fitzpatrick is looking for a triangle here but Smirnoff uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Fitzpatrick is looking to regain half guard here but Smirnoff keeps moving and retains side control.
Smirnoff stands up and we're back to a striking position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fitzpatrick gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smirnoff to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fitzpatrick could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

and Fitzpatrick counters with a single leg into guard. Smirnoff didn't expect that.

Fitzpatrick postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Fitzpatrick postures up and lands a big shot to Smirnoff's brow.
Smirnoff wants to stand but Fitzpatrick is controlling the position.
Fitzpatrick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Fitzpatrick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smirnoff works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Smirnoff is trying to control the position but Fitzpatrick postures up.

Fitzpatrick stands up over Smirnoff, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Smirnoff looks winded!
Fitzpatrick postures up and lands a big shot to Smirnoff's brow.
Fitzpatrick lands a couple of elbows.
Fitzpatrick scoring with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hassan Fitzpatrick will probably get the nod.

Smirnoff closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fitzpatrick's guard.
Smirnoff is standing up over Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick looks to escape but Smirnoff dives into side control.
Fitzpatrick can't do much from the bottom here.
Fitzpatrick striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
You can see the frustration on Fitzpatrick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Smirnoff decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fitzpatrick to his feet.

Smirnoff tries to counter with a clinch but Fitzpatrick shakes him off and moves away.
Smirnoff is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fitzpatrick's half guard.
Fitzpatrick has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Smirnoff is on him like a limpet, forcing Fitzpatrick back against the cage.

Fitzpatrick drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smirnoff pulls his leg out and moves away.
Smirnoff has closed the distance and engaged Fitzpatrick in a clinch.
Fitzpatrick throws an elbow but it misses.
Fitzpatrick stalling in the clinch.
Come on Fitzpatrick - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Smirnoff is pressed up against the cage. Fitzpatrick has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smirnoff down to the mat. Smirnoff avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fitzpatrick moves into the clinch successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fitzpatrick stalling in the clinch.
Fitzpatrick tries to pull guard but Smirnoff won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hassan Fitzpatrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Still in the clinch, Smirnoff scores with a nice short uppercut.
Smirnoff manages to break the clinch.
Smirnoff fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fitzpatrick fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Smirnoff checks it well.
Smirnoff doesn't manage to clinch there - Fitzpatrick circles away.
Smirnoff drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smirnoff takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Fitzpatrick is holding on to half guard well.
Fitzpatrick is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smirnoff pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smirnoff passes into side control, despite Fitzpatrick's attempt to control the position.

Vladimir Smirnoff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It looks like Hassan Fitzpatrick has been cut.

Fitzpatrick tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Smirnoff manages to move to mount!
Fitzpatrick takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Smirnoff's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
