PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Dodd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genaddu Chakovshiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Genaddu Chakovshiy was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Dodd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Genaddu Chakovshiy!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dodd throws out a leg kick but Chakovshiy moves out of range and Dodd only half commits.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Chakovshiy has eaten all the pies!

Dodd clinches up against the cage.
Chakovshiy wants a takedown.
Chakovshiy goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dodd prevents it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Dodd lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chakovshiy is trying to drag Dodd to the mat but Dodd just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Fred Dodd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Genaddu Chakovshiy.

Dodd definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dodd lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Dodd digs a good body shot into Chakovshiy's ribs.

Dodd sizes up Chakovshiy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Dodd has closed the distance and engaged Chakovshiy in a clinch.
Dodd lands with a light punch inside.

Dodd lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Dodd slows down the pace here.
Dodd lands a nice elbow.
Dodd lands on the inside with an uppercut.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Chakovshiy dodges the punch combination from Dodd.
Chakovshiy drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dodd defends it well.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Dodd has cracked Chakovshiy with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Dodd lands another huge swinging hook and Chakovshiy tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Chakovshiy, before Dodd can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Fred Dodd!
Our winner, Fred Dodd, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
