Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jabari Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthew Morrison has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jabari Parker!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker drives through and clinches with Morrison against the cage.
Parker wants to take the fight to the mat but Morrison manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Parker blocking some punches.
Parker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Morrison walks away with a smile on his face. Parker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Parker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morrison tries to avoid it but Parker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morrison to the ground. Morrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matthew Morrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jabari Parker.
Parker throws a body punch but Morrison moves out of range.
Parker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morrison as he jumps to the side.
Parker shoots and misses

and Morrison counters with a nice double leg into side control. Parker won't be happy with that.
Morrison connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Parker some visible discomfort.
Morrison in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Parker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Morrison really is a fat lump.

Parker is trying to get back to his feet.
Morrison content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Parker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The referee asks Morrison politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Morrison prefers to stall for the moment though.
Parker is looking to reverse the position.

Morrison stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Morrison stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Morrison wants it to stay on the feet.

Morrison closes the distance and pushes Parker back into the cage.

Parker is looking for a takedown.
Parker has Morrison pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Morrison manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Parker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Morrison tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Parker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Parker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Morrison keeps working.

Parker decides to stand back up. Parker steps back and let's Morrison get back to his feet.

Morrison circles away from the clinch attempt.
Morrison takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Parker fails to land the takedown.

Morrison gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Parker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Morrison decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Morrison has managed to clinch.
Morrison prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
A short right from Morrison.
Parker goes for a takedown attempt but Morrison pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Morrison throws a head kick but Parker moves out of range.

and Morrison holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morrison keeps control of Parker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Parker drops down looking for an ankle pick but Morrison pulls his leg out and moves away.
Parker dives in for a single leg takedown but Morrison sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Parker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Morrison has hold of one of Parker's legs. Parker is fighting the takedown attempt but Morrison gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Morrison has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Parker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Morrison might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Parker is working an open guard so Morrison takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Morrison throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Parker changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Parker tries to keep at a distance but Morrison has taken the fight into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Morrison is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Parker can't fight it off and eventually Morrison manages to take the fight to the floor. Parker looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Parker is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Matthew Morrison overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Morrison pulls Parker in close to his closed guard and prevents Parker from doing any damage or advancing position.
Parker wants to control from the top but Morrison keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well Morrison has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
