Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rene Simard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rene Simard looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Simard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Davis!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Simard pinned against the cage. Simard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Andy Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simard tries to clinch but Davis moves out of range.
Simard wants to clinch up but Davis keeps it at a distance.
Davis with the counter takedown but Simard avoids it easily.
Davis scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nice sprawl there from Simard as Davis shoots in.
Davis throws a head kick that misses.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt.
Rene Simard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Davis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Simard circles away quickly and effectively.

Davis jumps guard and drags Simard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Davis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simard's guard.

Simard tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Davis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Simard, up you get!

Davis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Davis pushes Simard off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Simard moves out of range easily.
Simard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Davis is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Davis lunges at Simard with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Simard's hand.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Davis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Simard trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Simard passes into half guard.
Simard wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it.

Davis is doing well to control the position and prevent Simard from advancing to side control.

Davis has one foot on Simard's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

and Simard counters with a series of strikes. Davis will be more careful next time no doubt.
Simard shoots in looking for a takedown. Davis tries to sprawl out of it but Simard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Simard looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Simard shoots in for a takedown but Davis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Davis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
