PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Mast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anass Rhammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Mast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anass Rhammer!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhammer works over Mast's head and body with a nice combination.
Mast takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Mast closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rhammer quickly recovers to half guard.
Mast is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rhammer!
Mast throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Mast wants to stand but Rhammer is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Mast looking for a guillotine from mount but Rhammer is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mast takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mast seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rhammer for as long as he can get away with.
Rhammer manages to control the position for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rhammer tries to hold on but Mast pushes him away.
Rhammer is trying desperately to improve position.
Mast takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Rhammer tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Mast avoids the attempt from Rhammer to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rhammer is squirming around, avoiding Mast's attempts to control the action.
Mast is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Rhammer has given up his back here.
Mast has the hooks in. Rhammer is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Rhammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mast. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mast thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Mast trying to control.

Mast working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Rhammer is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Mast has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Rhammer taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Mast!
David Mast decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
