The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chatzikomninos blocks the body kick.
Chatzikomninos connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Karimov's hands.
Karimov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Chatzikomninos misses with a hook
and Karimov counters with a nice leg kick.
Karimov looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Chatzikomninos throws a looping overhand right but Karimov ducks down to avoid it.
Karimov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Karimov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Chatzikomninos fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chatzikomninos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Karimov connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Chatzikomninos scrambles back to his feet.

I was talking to Karimov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Chatzikomninos lands with an uppercut that bounces Karimov off the cage and back into range.

Karimov went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Karimov throws a low kick, looking for Chatzikomninos's leg but Chatzikomninos calmly moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dasha Karimov will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Karimov tries to work over Chatzikomninos's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Chatzikomninos lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Karimov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chatzikomninos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
As Chatzikomninos tries to get set, Karimov tries to push him back and clinch up but Chatzikomninos manages to avoid the attempt.
Chatzikomninos lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Chatzikomninos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
