The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lora shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Xavier pinned against the cage. Xavier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Xavier lands a jab to the head.
Lora's coach down at The Island Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lora's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Xavier displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lora.
Xavier was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Lora tries to move into range but Xavier moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Xavier cracks Lora with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Lora fails with the takedown
and Xavier counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Joao Vitor Xavier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Lora.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Xavier's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Xavier duly obliges.
Xavier scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lora has his takedown stuffed
and Xavier counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Lora is rocked!
Xavier cracks Lora with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Lora tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Xavier pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Lora is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
