The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Spong takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Spong lands a body shot.
Spong lands with a straight right. Mason didn't see that one coming.
Mason connects with a crisp jab.
Spong swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Spong takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mason walks into a jab.
It looks like Max Mason has been cut.
Spong rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mason counters with a stiff right hand.
A big left from Mason misses.
A slow jab from Spong misses its intended target.
Mason was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Thai Spong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spong throws an off balance right hand
and Spong takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mason misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Spong.
Spong misses with a right hand
and Mason connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Spong scores with a jab.
Mason drops his guard momentarily, allowing Spong to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Mason! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Spong takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Thai Spong!
Thai Spong decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
