PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rosendo Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Si Kacak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rosendo Hoover!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Si Kacak!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kacak misses the jab.

Hoover closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kacak did well to prevent Hoover getting side control.
Kacak is trying to maintain the position but Hoover is very close to passing his half guard.
Kacak is trying to control but Hoover manages to pass to mount!
Kacak is desperately trying to improve his position but Hoover has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoover wants to take his opponent's back but Kacak doesn't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kacak throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Kacak is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kacak regains half guard.
Hoover will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kacak is looking to control Hoover's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kacak avoid being mounted?
Kacak is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hoover's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hoover's back!
Hoover looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Kacak patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Hoover just trying to survive but Kacak is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Kacak trying to control.
Hoover rolls, trying to escape but Kacak keeps control of the position.

Kacak is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hoover defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Kacak slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Hoover really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hoover trying to control the action but Kacak just sinks the hooks in.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kacak has good solid back control here.
Hoover knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kacak on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kacak has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hoover has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
I really don't envy Hoover right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Si Kacak dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kacak cracks Hoover with an open hand slap.
Kacak tries to clinch there but Hoover circles away.
Kacak tries to clinch up.
Kacak throws a right and a left that Hoover avoids nicely.
Kacak shoots in and drives through. Hoover sprawls well.
Kacak has his takedown stuffed

and Hoover holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kacak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Hoover connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rosendo Hoover has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Si Kacak.

Hoover instigates a clinch.

Hoover tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Hoover misses with a knee to the head.
Hoover looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kacak is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Hoover lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Kacak gets control of Hoover's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kacak will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hoover lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hoover is fighting to break Kacak's control of his arms but Kacak is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hoover's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoover is in close to Kacak's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hoover working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kacak's head.
Hoover postures up.
Kacak has momentary wrist control but Hoover slips an elbow through the middle.
Hoover distracts Kacak with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hoover postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kacak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hoover can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hoover stands up over Kacak, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kacak is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Si Kacak has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kacak doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoover circles away.
Hoover looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
A low kick from Kacak misses
and Hoover cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kacak fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hoover sprawls well initially but Kacak persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hoover is trying to get back to full guard.
Hoover is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kacak's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kacak's back!

Hoover lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Hoover connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Kacak to escape the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kacak throws a head kick that misses.
Hoover appears to be looking for a big counter.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kacak enables Hoover to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kacak manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kacak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoover is one step ahead there.
Hoover with a nice head shot there.
Hoover with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kacak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hoover gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hoover with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hoover scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hoover is looking to work some ground and pound but Kacak has wrist control.

Kacak might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hoover haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Kacak takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Hoover is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kacak has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kacak throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Kacak manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Hoover is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hoover is not content to let Kacak control the position.

Hoover looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kacak looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kacak missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Hoover is trying to maintain the position but Kacak is very close to passing his half guard.
Hoover tries to get to full guard but Kacak has control of the leg.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kacak throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kacak missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Kacak wants to stand up but Hoover has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Kacak passes the guard and advances to mount!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kacak avoids the attempt from Hoover to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rosendo Hoover.
I think Hoover has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
