PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Loren Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Reaper told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Loren Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reaper has taken the fight to the clinch.
Good body shot from Guy.
Guy wants to stall.

Reaper is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Guy can't fight it off and eventually Reaper manages to take the fight to the floor. Guy looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Guy trying to control the position.
Guy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Reaper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reaper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Reaper working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Reaper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reaper is pushing down on Guy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Guy is fighting to maintain full guard but Reaper has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guy is looking to improve his position.

Reaper is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Guy sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Guy manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Reaper passes Guy's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reaper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Reaper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Reaper is nestled in close to Guy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Reaper wants to take a breather but Guy is having none of it.
Guy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Reaper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Reaper's back!
Guy keeps control of the position as Reaper tries to break free.
Guy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Reaper is still trying to improve position.
Reaper turns into Guy and is now in his guard.
Reaper advances to half guard.
Reaper is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Reaper has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Guy defend it? Reaper steps over the head and cranks it - Guy is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Reaper!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack Reaper!
Jack Reaper decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
