Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Israel Foley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateusz Biernat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Biernat is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Never Give Up. Israel Foley has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Israel Foley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mateusz Biernat!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Biernat throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Foley was covering up waiting for the punch and Biernat finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Foley pulls Biernat in close to prevent any damage.
Biernat wants to control from the top but Foley keeps moving.
Foley is pulling down on Biernat's head to control his posture.
Foley striking off his back but it's not causing Biernat any problems.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foley has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Biernat thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Foley lands a decent punch to the body there.

Biernat passes into half guard.
Foley is holding on to half guard well.

Foley makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Biernat walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Foley checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Biernat changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Foley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mateusz Biernat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Biernat is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Foley scores with a couple of nice shots.
Biernat is trying to stand up here but Foley is controlling him well.

Foley is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Biernat has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Biernat wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Biernat covers up after that shot from Foley.
Biernat is trying to get back to his feet but Foley has full control of the position and if anything, Biernat has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Biernat breaks Foley's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Biernat has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Foley is proving hard to escape from.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Biernat displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Foley.
Foley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Biernat can do to turn this around?

Biernat looking to score a takedown here. Foley is defending well but Biernat drives through and ends up in Foley's guard.

Foley has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Biernat looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Biernat has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Foley is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Biernat.

Biernat wants to control but Foley is keeping busy.

Foley is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Biernat gets his way!

Foley manages to reverse the position and now he's in Biernat's guard. Nice work there by Foley.
Biernat has momentary wrist control but Foley slips an elbow through the middle.

Biernat not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Foley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Foley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Foley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Foley looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

A close second round but Mateusz Biernat will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Biernat is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Biernat is looking to stand back up but Foley counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Biernat.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Biernat wants to get back to full guard but Foley has mounted him!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Foley throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Foley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Biernat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Biernat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Biernat drops back, looking for a kneebar! Foley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Foley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Foley!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Foley content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Israel Foley showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Foley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
