Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom McGettigan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gary The Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Reaper clinches.
McGettigan blocking some punches.
The Reaper tries a body shot but McGettigan blocks it.
McGettigan fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A body shot lands from McGettigan.
The Reaper tries to throw a body punch but McGettigan avoids it by throwing The Reaper back against the cage.
The Reaper lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down McGettigan.
McGettigan blocks a body shot from The Reaper.
McGettigan scores with a shoulder strike.
McGettigan misses with a hook to the ribs.
A head punch on the inside from The Reaper fails to land.

McGettigan breaks the clinch.
The Reaper looks to land a right hand but McGettigan moved out of range.

The Reaper fails with the takedown
and McGettigan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The Reaper throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and McGettigan counters with a right hand to the body.
The Reaper's coach down at Kangaroo's MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on The Reaper's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
The Reaper looks winded!

The Reaper swings widly with a right hand
and McGettigan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The Reaper is looking to clinch.
The Reaper throws a right hand that misses
and McGettigan counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Gary The Reaper has been cut.
McGettigan slips under a jab.
McGettigan throws a big counter combination but The Reaper scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

McGettigan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from The Reaper.
It looked like McGettigan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

The Reaper decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The Reaper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The Reaper wants to free his trapped foot but McGettigan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

McGettigan is trying is best to control the position here.
McGettigan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from The Reaper.

The Reaper is trying to control the action in half guard but McGettigan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The Reaper looks to land a strike but McGettigan avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells The Reaper's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The Reaper lands a couple of elbows.
The Reaper trying to control the position from guard on top but McGettigan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Reaper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The Reaper is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The Reaper trying to control but McGettigan is working from the bottom.
McGettigan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The Reaper is pushing down on McGettigan's leg trying to pass to half guard. McGettigan is fighting to maintain full guard but The Reaper has managed to sneak the leg through.
The Reaper misses with a head shot. McGettigan uses the momentum to regain guard.
The Reaper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

McGettigan is trying to control the position but The Reaper postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The Reaper throws a big elbow that misses.
The Reaper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The Reaper postures up in McGettigan's guard and throws a big left but McGettigan blocks it.
The Reaper is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The Reaper trying to control the position from guard on top but McGettigan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Reaper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The Reaper passes into half guard.
McGettigan is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Touch Of Death Combat Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, The Reaper seems content to control.
McGettigan is trying to maintain the position but The Reaper is very close to passing his half guard.
McGettigan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gary The Reaper will probably get the nod.

McGettigan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

The Reaper has closed the distance and engaged McGettigan in a clinch.

The Reaper lands a hook that snaps the head of McGettigan backwards.

McGettigan breaks from the clinch.

The Reaper has McGettigan up against the cage in a clinch.
The Reaper lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The Reaper is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McGettigan to keep the fight standing.
McGettigan misses with the head strike.
The Reaper misses with a punch on the inside.
The Reaper jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGettigan walks away with a smile on his face. The Reaper gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McGettigan moves away from the strike by The Reaper.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The Reaper throws a lazy uppercut
and McGettigan counters with a nice uppercut.

The Reaper wants to clinch but McGettigan slips to the side
and McGettigan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The Reaper misses with a takedown attempt
and McGettigan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tom McGettigan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary The Reaper.
The Reaper lands a nice shot to the body.
Gary The Reaper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGettigan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McGettigan wants it to stay on the feet.
McGettigan is looking to counter punch.
McGettigan avoids the body shot from The Reaper.
McGettigan circles away from the clinch attempt
and McGettigan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


The Reaper is rocked!
McGettigan drops The Reaper with a big left hand! The Reaper is injured, injured bad! McGettigan jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
