Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sticky Fingaz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Smashum Faster!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faster looks to land a right hand but Fingaz moved out of range.
Faster misses with a few strikes there.

Fingaz scores with a takedown into Faster's guard.
Faster working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fingaz.
Faster has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Fingaz preventing the sweep.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fingaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fingaz lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fingaz postures up in Faster's guard and throws a big left but Faster blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fingaz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fingaz stands up over Faster, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fingaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Fingaz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Faster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fingaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fingaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Faster throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Faster is trying to keep Fingaz in close.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Faster is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Faster working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Fingaz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fingaz tries to get out of the position.
Faster's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Faster stopping the sweep attempt from Fingaz.
Faster throws a big elbow that misses.
Fingaz wants to sweep but no luck.
Faster stands and throws Fingaz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fingaz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Faster wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Faster sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fingaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Fingaz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Fingaz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Faster.
The ground and pound from Faster seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Fingaz is trying to get back to half guard.

Faster has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fingaz is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Faster yanks on the arm and Fingaz is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Faster.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Smashum Faster!
