PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brody Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Arones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Battle comes into the arena with Pantera - Shedding Skin blaring out of the sound system. Arones has chosen Lonely is the night as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arones misses with a series of wild punches.
Battle looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Battle throws a body punch but Arones moves out of range.
Arones connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Battle misses with a wild combination.
Battle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Arones throws out the jab.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arones throws a lazy right hand but Battle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Battle uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Arones.
Battle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Battle clinches up with Arones and pushes him back against the cage.
Arones blocks a body shot from Battle.
Battle tries to work over Arones's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Battle tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Arones's elbow.
Arones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Arones tries to pull guard but Battle holds him up against the cage and eventually Arones drops back down to his feet.

Arones works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Battle is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Arones presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Arones has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Battle seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Arones can turn it around.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Arones is fighting to break Battle's control of his arms but Battle is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Battle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Arones tries to free his leg and advance position but Battle is retaining full guard.

Arones changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Battle is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Arones can do to turn this around?
Arones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Battle pinned against the cage. Battle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Battle throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Arones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
