PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Milan Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Annette Curtain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtain showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gomez.

Curtain feints and as Gomez raises his hands in defense, Curtain changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Curtain works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Curtain seems to be working for a kimura but Gomez defends the submission attempt.

Curtain is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gomez is just riding it out for now. Curtain eventually gives up the hold.

Curtain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gomez sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Curtain jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gomez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gomez and Curtain has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Curtain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gomez is not content to let Curtain control the position.

Curtain goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gomez rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Curtain's guard! Nice work there by Gomez!

Curtain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Curtain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Curtain is in Gomez's guard.

Curtain thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gomez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Curtain off and has taken his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gomez is persistently looking for the submission but Curtain is defending it well.

Curtain defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gomez's arms.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Milan Gomez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Curtain dives in for a single leg takedown but Gomez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gomez throws a head kick that misses.
Curtain looks to land a body kick but Gomez moved away.
Gomez tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Curtain manages to circle out of the way.

Gomez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Curtain, pushing him back against the cage.
Curtain jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gomez walks away with a smile on his face. Curtain gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Gomez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Milan Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Annette Curtain.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gomez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Curtain can do to turn this around?

Gomez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gomez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Curtain has an Americana. Gomez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Curtain is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Curtain hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
