PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Scott Columbus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donal Maciver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Columbus comes to the ring accompanied by Blood Of The Kings. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Donal Maciver was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Scott Columbus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Donal Maciver!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maciver misses with an uppercut.
Columbus throws a quick counter kick to the body but Maciver avoids it.
Maciver is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Columbus.
A jab from Maciver misses.
Maciver looks to throw the jab but Columbus is out of range.
Maciver's coach down at Dynasty K-1 Dojo was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Maciver's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Columbus slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.


It looks like Donal Maciver has been cut.
Columbus throws the left hand but Maciver avoids the punch easily.
Maciver throws out a counter right but Columbus avoids it with no problem.
Maciver avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Columbus looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Columbus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maciver's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Columbus connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maciver scrambles back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Columbus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Maciver checks a leg kick nicely.
Columbus tries to land a front kick but Maciver steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Maciver thows a left - swing and a miss!
Maciver takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Columbus is looking to slow Maciver down with leg kicks.
Maciver throws an off balance right hand
and Columbus counters with a nice low kick that buckles Maciver's knee momentarily.
Maciver swings for the body but Columbus moves out of range.
Maciver loads up on a big right hand but Columbus slips the punch.
Columbus closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Maciver throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Columbus sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Maciver might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Columbus swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Maciver with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Columbus to score with a decent uppercut.

Maciver takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Columbus jabs Maciver right on the nose. Maciver blinks but takes it well.

Maciver is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maciver throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Columbus blocks it with crossed arms.

Columbus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Maciver takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Maciver scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Maciver scores with a crisp jab that stopped Columbus in his tracks.
Maciver fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Maciver moves out of range of the body kick from Columbus.
The fighters circling - Columbus throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Scott Columbus is winning the standup battle so far.
Maciver comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Columbus counters with an inside leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maciver has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Columbus finds it's way round the side to connect with Maciver's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Scott Columbus will probably get the nod.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Maciver, as that shot connected.

Maciver wants to clinch but Columbus slips to the side
and Columbus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Columbus throws a quick counter kick to the body but Maciver avoids it.
Columbus tries to bum rush Maciver with a series of wild strikes but Maciver uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Columbus quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Maciver has Columbus pressed against the ropes, preventing Columbus from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Scott Columbus.
I think Columbus has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
