PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sota Kalkkuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalkkuna comes to the cage accompanied by Resurrection by Fear Factory. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalkkuna tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Morrison closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morrison lands in his opponent's guard.
Morrison must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kalkkuna manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morrison manages to get himself to full guard.

Morrison uses the cage to get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kalkkuna wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Morrison lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Morrison has Kalkkuna flattened out and is raining down punches.

Kalkkuna tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Morrison paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Morrison throws a head kick but Kalkkuna moves out of range.
Kalkkuna is looking to clinch.

Morrison closes the distance and clinches.
Morrison just leaning against Kalkkuna, taking a breather.
Morrison jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kalkkuna walks away with a smile on his face. Morrison gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Morrison shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Morrison was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Morrison takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Morrison thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kalkkuna's head.

Kalkkuna actively working from the bottom here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Morrison in particular looking to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Morrison thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kalkkuna's head.

Kalkkuna is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Morrison pulls his head out easily.

Kalkkuna tries to get to full guard but Morrison has control of the leg.

Morrison is working for an americana but Kalkkuna has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Morrison was thinking about the submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morrison wants to control from the top but Kalkkuna keeps moving.

Kalkkuna manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morrison manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sota Kalkkuna will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kalkkuna tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Morrison counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Morrison successfully pulls guard.
Kalkkuna won't allow Morrison to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kalkkuna works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kalkkuna wants to pass the guard but Morrison is defending well.
Morrison is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kalkkuna jumps into side control!
Morrison is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kalkkuna off and has taken his back!

Morrison is trying to stick to Kalkkuna's back but Kalkkuna is turning into Morrison. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Morrison's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kalkkuna.
Morrison takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kalkkuna passes Morrison's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kalkkuna wants to pass the guard but Morrison is defending well.
Morrison wants to get back to full guard but Kalkkuna has passed into side control.
Kalkkuna seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Morrison is holding on tight.
Jim Morrison has got the better of the ground game so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Morrison is trying desperately to improve position.
Kalkkuna takes Morrison's back.

Morrison tries to escape but Kalkkuna has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Kalkkuna has got his arm under Morrison's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Morrison has spun round into Kalkkuna's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Morrison stays in close to Kalkkuna's body and controls the position.
Morrison scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Morrison decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kalkkuna, up you get!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sota Kalkkuna showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kalkkuna has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
