PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blind Shaman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leandro Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaman's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Shaman's Dream. Blind Shaman had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blind Shaman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Jones!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaman moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Shaman has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jones has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Jones pulls guard.
Shaman showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Our spies down at at LOD: Legion's PIT Fight Club inform us that Jones has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Jones keeping full guard, as Shaman tries to pass.

Shaman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Shaman is having none of it.
Shaman throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jones wants to control from the top but Shaman keeps moving.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shaman controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shaman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones gets to his feet - Shaman follows without any prompting.
Shaman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jones at a distance.
Jones throws a big shot that misses.
Jones tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Shaman slips under a jab.
Nice jab there from Jones.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shaman, right into the meat.
Shaman attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shaman looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shaman. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shaman with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Jones goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Shaman throws a head kick that half lands.

Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.

Shaman works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.
Shaman wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Shaman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard.
Shaman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jones!

Shaman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.

Shaman looking to secure an arm triangle but Jones defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaman trying to control but Jones is having none of it.

Jones wants to hold on but Shaman pushes him away.
Shaman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shaman is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blind Shaman dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Shaman connects with a leg kick. Jones looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jones lands a jab to Shaman's midsection.
Jones misses with an uppercut.
Shaman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab.
Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


It looks like Blind Shaman has been cut.
Shaman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones throws out a counter right but Shaman avoids it with no problem.
The fighters circling - Shaman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shaman seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Shaman, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Shaman against the cage but Shaman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shaman tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jones manages to circle out of the way.
Jones throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Shaman sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks.
Shaman is looking to chop away at Jones's legs.
Shaman lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shaman takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A big right from Jones misses.
Shaman looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shaman's guard.
Shaman is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.

Shaman has an active guard here but Jones has managed to pass into half guard.

Shaman is pressing down on Jones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Shaman keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones is looking to stand up but Shaman won't let him.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Shaman's legs - danger averted.
Jones wants to stand but Shaman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Leandro Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jones stands up over Shaman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Shaman has a closed guard, preventing Jones from standing up.

Shaman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Shaman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.

Shaman is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Shaman bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jones's head.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaman as he avoids it easily.
Blind Shaman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leandro Jones.
Jones throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Shaman slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Jones moves to clinch but Shaman breaks away
letting Shaman counter with a right hand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A punch lands to the side of Jones 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shaman jabs Jones right on the nose. Jones blinks but takes it well.
Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Shaman.
Jones connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shaman. Shaman circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Shaman on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Shaman tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jones thinks about the counter body kick.
Shaman blocks a jab.
Shaman half committed to a counter leg kick.
Leandro Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a hook to the side of Shaman's head but Shaman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Shaman forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shaman.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones's corner calls for a 1-2. Jones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Shaman stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A swing and a miss from Jones.
Shaman getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Leandro Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Blind Shaman's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jones shoots for a takedown but Shaman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

No joy there for Shaman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jones's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Shaman lands with a kick to the ribs.

Jones takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Shaman connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jones momentarily.
Jones shoots and misses
and Shaman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shaman, right into the meat.
Shaman connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Shaman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.
Shaman catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Shaman thows a left - swing and a miss!

Shaman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jones!
Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Shaman keeps moving and retains side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shaman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Shaman tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jones's legs.

Shaman fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Shaman tries to advance to mount but Jones denies him.
Shaman trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Shaman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

And that's the end of the fight!
Blind Shaman showed his dominance in that final round.
