Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between DJ Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Bane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DJ Maximus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maximus manages to avoid it.

Maximus throws a quick counter head kick but Bane was just out of range.

Bane rushes Maximus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Maximus misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Bane tries to throw a body punch but Maximus avoids it by throwing Bane back against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Maximus.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bane throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bane is looking to clinch but Maximus is avoiding it.

A decent looking cross lands there for Maximus.

A nice side step and Bane releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
DJ Maximus is winning the standup battle so far.
Maximus digs a good hook to Bane's body.
Bane throws a leg kick but Maximus sees it coming and moves out of range.
Bane moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Maximus is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bane.
Bane throws a fast counter high kick but Maximus manages to duck under it in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice defenses there by Maximus.
Maximus throws a lazy right hand but Bane sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Bane! But no joy.
Maximus moves out of range as Bane strikes.
Maximus throws a big shot that misses.
Bane unleashes a big counter combination but Maximus bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Bane steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maximus.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Bane in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

It seemed like Bane was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Bane connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Maximus momentarily.
Bane cracks a nice hook into Maximus's ribs.
Maximus looks to throw the jab but Bane is out of range.

Bane was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

and Bane counters with a huge left! Maximus is in big trouble! He's backing up but Bane isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Maximus from any more damage. A dominating finish by Bane!
