PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Queen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devonte Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Devonte Harris was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Oliver Queen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devonte Harris!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Queen.
Harris wants to get back to his feet but Queen is dominant here and he's now got Harris's back!
Harris is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Queen.
Harris is trying to stand back up.
Queen has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Harris's body.
Queen punishes Harris with strikes from the back mount.

Harris is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Queen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Queen slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Queen is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Harris up.
Queen lands a shot to the body.
Queen slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Harris is trying to get back to his feet but Queen has full control of the position and if anything, Harris has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Harris takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Queen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Oliver Queen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Queen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Queen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Harris for as long as he can get away with.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Queen throws a leg kick which misses Harris's front leg but catches the back leg as Harris tries to avoid it.

Queen moves into range and clinches up with Harris.
Queen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Harris is defending well.
Queen scores with a shot to the side of Harris's head.

Queen has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Harris regains guard immediately.

Queen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Harris can do to turn this around?
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Queen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harris can do anything to dispel that myth.
Queen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Queen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Queen pushes down on Harris's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Queen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Queen lands with a punch from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Queen wants to pass the guard but Harris is defending well.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Queen has Harris up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Queen.
Queen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Harriss head.
Queen scores with a nice hook to the head.
Queen has Harris pushed against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Queen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Queen gets underhooks to prevent Harris's takedown attempt.
Queen lands a hook that snaps the head of Harris backwards.
Queen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Harris backwards.

Queen gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Queen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Queen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Queen scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Queen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Queen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Still in half guard, Queen seems content to control.
Harris is trying to stand.
Oliver Queen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Queen gets the takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Harris tries to escape but Queen is in control.

Queen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Harris takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Queen controls the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Devonte Harris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Queen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
