Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Dai Aoki and Wally Backman. Aoki kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jiu Jitsu. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Dai Aoki! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Wally Backman!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Aoki closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Aoki takes a little break here. Backman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Backman stops Aoki from passing to mount.
Backman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Backman has eaten all the pies!

Aoki looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aoki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The referee asks Aoki politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Aoki prefers to stall for the moment though.

Aoki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aoki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Backman is trying to get back to half guard.

Aoki moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Aoki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Backman is controlling an arm, preventing Aoki from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Aoki.
Backman is desperately trying to improve his position but Aoki has a good base and remains in mount.

Aoki is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Backman defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Aoki seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Backman for as long as he can get away with.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
