And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Papa Shango!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pappalardo has managed to clinch.
Shango jumps guard but Pappalardo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Shango decides to pull guard.
Pappalardo trying to control the position from guard on top but Shango is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pappalardo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shango is adopting a defensive guard.
Pappalardo stopping the sweep attempt from Shango.
Shango keeps trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shango had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pappalardo defends it easily.
Shango is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shango wants to sweep but no luck.
Pappalardo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Shango is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pappalardo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Shango lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Shango is pushing down on Pappalardo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pappalardo is fighting to maintain full guard but Shango has managed to sneak the leg through.
Pappalardo is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Shango has latched onto it... Big trouble! Shango pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Pappalardo is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Shango!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Papa Shango!
In his post fight interview, Papa Shango started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
