PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Low Qui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryson Pico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pico has chosen Lowkey - G-Eazy as his entrance music. The key to victory for Low Qui has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Low Qui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bryson Pico!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qui scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Pico rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Qui cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Qui misses with a jab, cross combination.
Qui lands with a nice combination. Pico backs away looking to recover.
Pico thows a left - swing and a miss!

and Qui cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Pico looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Qui!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Qui takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Pico really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Qui. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pico has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Qui is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pico.

Low Qui dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pico misses with a takedown attempt - Qui sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pico dives in and grabs Qui's left leg, looking for a takedown. Qui pushes down on Pico's head and hops out.
Bryson Pico has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Qui gets caught napping as Pico dives in and scores a takedown. Qui manages to retain guard.
Pico looking to sit in guard and control but Qui gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Qui doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Qui manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Qui has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pico tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Qui wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Qui is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Pico. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Low Qui overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

You can see the frustration on Pico's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Low Qui showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Qui has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
