Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Berger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Padilla!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berger uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Padilla.

Berger forces Padilla back against the cage and clinches.
Padilla is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Berger is defending well for now.
Berger tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Padilla smiles and moves away.
Padilla tries a head kick but it misses.
Berger tries to score with a low kick but Padilla moves his leg out of the way.
Padilla tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Berger was well out of range. Poor timing from Padilla.

The fight stays on the outside here - Padilla looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Padilla shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Berger is trying to defend but Padilla finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Padilla fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Berger, pushing him back against the cage.
Berger really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Berger keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Padilla's efforts to push away.
Berger wants to get back to striking at distance but Padilla won't allow it.

Padilla shoots in and gets a takedown into Berger's guard.

Berger uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Padilla swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Padilla dives in and scores a takedown into Berger's guard.

Berger is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Padilla is aware though and is defending well.
Berger will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Berger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Padilla is one step ahead there.

Berger is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Padilla is trying to trip Berger. He has hold of a leg but Berger is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Padilla persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Padilla throws a big right hand that misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Berger pulls Padilla in to control the position.
Berger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Padilla gets to his feet - Berger follows without any prompting.
Ricky Padilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Padilla tries to keep at a distance but Berger has taken the fight into the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Padilla tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Berger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Padilla tries a head kick but it misses.
Berger shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Padilla as he jumps to the side.

Padilla decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Padilla is looking for a kimura but Berger is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Padilla to get the leverage.
Padilla tries to stand and escape but Berger actually recovers to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Padilla bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Berger's head backwards.


It looks like Mark Berger has been cut.
Padilla tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Berger paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Padilla drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.


Berger is rocked!

Oh Berger is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Padilla drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Padilla jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Padilla gets to his feet and stands over Berger, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Berger felt that one! Padilla unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Berger from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricky Padilla!
