PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Carthew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Assad Abdullah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Carthew.
Abdullah gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Carthew scores with a hook to the body. Abdullah takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Carthew misses with a few strikes there.
Abdullah goes for a double leg but Carthew avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carthew continues to drive forward.
Carthew rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Abdullah moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Abdullah throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carthew looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Abdullah takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Carthew drives through and clinches with Abdullah against the cage.

Carthew closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Abdullah to the mat! Abdullah manages to get full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carthew cracks Abdullah with an open hand slap.

Bobby Carthew is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carthew clobbers Abdullah with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Carthew throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Abdullah stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The crowd cheers as Carthew lands an impressive looking overhand right. Abdullah doesn't seem phased though.

Carthew is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Abdullah can do to turn this around?

As Carthew backs off Abdullah throws a huge counter combo but Carthew manages to avoid it all.

Carthew shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Abdullah pinned against the cage. Abdullah gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Abdullah looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Carthew is defending well. Abdullah quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Carthew has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Abdullah celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
